YARN BOMBING FOR DEAF-BLIND AWARENESS

SUSAN GAMBLE

Alecia Purkiss, who lives at the Sensity apartment complex in Paris next to the Deadblind and Sensory Support Network, uses a staple gun to help “yarn-bomb” the facilty's sensory garden with help from activity co-ordinator Brittany Vautour. About 700 squares donated by the deaf-blind community and friends were used to create a sensory experience. Paris-based Sensity is one of several organizations across Canada that are participating in a global initiative to build awareness about people who are deafblind by yarn bombing in June, which is Deafblind Awarness Month.
